Linda Yanti Sulistiawati

Linda is a Senior Research Fellow at APCEL and also an Associate Professor of Law in Universitas Gadjah Mada. She is an internationally recognised scholar in Indonesian international environmental law and her research has established her as a leading expert who is frequently consulted by the Indonesian government and international organizations. Her research focuses on international environmental issues, such as climate change, REDD+, land issues and customary (adat) issues. Linda was a member of the delegation leading Indonesia’s negotiations of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. From 2018 to 2021, Linda is a lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Sixth Assessment Report. Linda has held visiting appointments at the Center for Asian Legal Exchange (CALE) in Nagoya University (2017), and Asian Law Institute (ASLI) at NUS (2018). She was previously a Visiting Fellow at APCEL from 5 August to 3 September 2019. Linda had presented her research globally, including at University of Agder (Norway, 2017), University of Nagoya (Japan, 2018), Korean Legal Institute (South Korea, 2018), Kathmandu University (Nepal, 2018), and the University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong SAR, 2019). Linda was also a Visiting Fellow with the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law between 5 August 2019 to 3 September 2019. At APCEL, Linda will focus on comparative climate change law and policy in ASEAN. This adds to the centre’s focus on climate change law and its plans to become the knowledge hub on climate law in Southeast Asia and the wider Asia Pacific region.
